Mick Jenkins “The Roots”

(Refresh if you don’t see the player on the first load.)

Mick Jenkins continues to ride on the strength of his outstanding Trees and Truths mixtape, produced by OnGaud (available at Audiomack), as well as, more recently, some excellent summer releases with Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, and Dally Auston.  Give them  a listen at his Soundcloud.

Matty Rico “Celebratin’”

Chicago-to-LA transplant Matty Rico, formerly half of Audiodax, has garnered serious praise for New American (available at his Bandcamp page), and he returns to the Union Concert Series after a raw performance with us last April.

Jarred AG “Forward”

On the track, Jarred AGis a huge presence, but nevertheless sounds comfortable in the minimalist trappings of his most recent EP, Luxury Tax (stream it over at Soundcloud). We’re looking forward to his forthcoming project, which we’re told, according to Facebook, will be another collaboration with producer Smoko Ono.

Benny Nice “Last Night I Dreamed”

A prolific MC and beatmaker, Benny Nice’s most recent release is Kushion, his seventh volume of instrumentals, although he’s dropped nine other mixtapes since 2006 (all available for free download at the 119 main page).
